THE PEOPLE
A SMALL
STUDIO,
INTENTIONALLY.
The people you meet at the first site visit are the people who draw your project and stand on site while it is built. Nobody is handed down the line.
PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT | CREATIVE DIRECTOR
NICHOLAS WHITCUTT
Nicholas leads project delivery at Horizon Studio, starting with a collaborative concept development phase. carrying work from design development through to construction on site. Nicholas' gift lies in interpreting the brief, in the context of the site and visualising the final result as a responsive, brave and unique space that adds value to inhabitants and sits harmoniously in its surroundings. Sometimes quietly understated, sometimes strikingly daring but always carefully considered.

DIRECTOR
NICK BRITS
Nick combines over twenty years in architecture with ten years spent on construction sites — an unusual pairing that shapes how the studio works. He takes projects from concept through to finalisation, and is the reason our drawings can be built and our budgets hold.

DIRECTOR | ARCHITECT
MICHAELA ROTHAUG
Michaela brings thirty years of architecture across South Africa, Germany and Mexico to the studio’s work — three very different building cultures, and a habit of asking what a place already knows how to do before proposing something new.
